Frequently Asked Questions
Are my videos uploaded to a server?
No. All video and audio processing happens entirely in your browser using WebAssembly technology (FFmpeg compiled for the web). Your files never leave your device, making these tools safe for personal, confidential, and copyrighted content. You can verify this by checking the Network tab in your browser's developer tools.
What video formats are supported?
Our tools support all common video formats including MP4, MOV, WebM, AVI, and MKV. The video compressor outputs MP4 (H.264) for maximum compatibility. The audio extractor can output MP3, WAV, and AAC formats. For best results and widest compatibility, MP4 with H.264 encoding is recommended.
How long does it take to process a video?
Processing time depends on the video length, resolution, and your device's processing power. A typical 1-minute 1080p video takes about 15-30 seconds to compress on a modern laptop. Longer videos or 4K content will take proportionally longer. Processing happens in a background thread, so you can continue using other tabs.
What is the maximum video file size I can process?
The practical limit depends on your device's available RAM. Most modern computers can handle videos up to 500MB-1GB. Mobile devices may be limited to smaller files (100-200MB). There are no artificial limits imposed by our tools. For very large files, consider using desktop video editing software.
Can I convert a video to a GIF and control the quality?
Yes. The Video to GIF converter lets you select a specific clip from your video, set the output dimensions (width), and choose the frame rate (FPS). Lower FPS and smaller dimensions produce smaller file sizes. You can preview the GIF before downloading to find the perfect balance between quality and file size.
