What Is the Social Media Image Resizer?

The Social Media Image Resizer is a free tool that takes a single image and generates 13 platform-optimized versions in one click. Every major platform — Instagram, Facebook, Twitter/X, LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok, Pinterest, and WhatsApp — has its own required image dimensions. Posting the wrong size means your image gets cropped unpredictably, stretched, or displayed with ugly borders. This tool eliminates that problem entirely.

Upload any JPG, PNG, or WebP image up to 20 MB. Select the platforms you need, choose between smart crop mode (which center-crops to fill each aspect ratio perfectly) or fit mode (which keeps your entire image visible with an elegant blurred background fill). Adjust output format and quality, then generate all sizes instantly. Download each image individually or grab everything as a single ZIP file. All processing happens in your browser — your image is never uploaded to any server.

How to Resize Images for Social Media

  1. Upload your image by dragging it onto the drop zone or clicking to browse. The tool accepts JPG, PNG, and WebP files up to 20 MB. For best results, start with the highest resolution available — at least 2000×2000 pixels.
  2. Choose your platforms. All 13 sizes are selected by default. Deselect any you don't need, or use “Select all” / “Deselect all” to toggle quickly. Sizes include Instagram Post (1080×1080), Story (1080×1920), Facebook Cover (820×312), YouTube Thumbnail (1280×720), and nine more.
  3. Pick your resize mode. Smart Crop center-crops your image to fill each aspect ratio — ideal when your subject is centered. Fit mode scales the image to fit within the target dimensions and fills empty space with a blurred version of your image as a background, so nothing is cropped.
  4. Set format and quality. Choose JPG (smaller file size, great for photos) or PNG (lossless, better for graphics). The quality slider (80–100%) controls JPG compression.
  5. Generate and download. Click Generate to process all selected sizes. Preview each result, download individually, or grab the entire set as a ZIP file with one click.

Smart Crop vs. Fit Mode

Smart Crop analyzes your image's center point and crops to fill each platform's exact aspect ratio. This produces edge-to-edge images with no letterboxing, but parts of the image may be cropped off. It works best when the important content is centered in the frame.

Fit mode preserves your entire image. It calculates the largest size that fits within the target dimensions while maintaining the original aspect ratio, then fills the remaining space with a gaussian-blurred version of the original image. This creates a professional, polished result that works especially well for portraits, product photos, and images where every pixel matters.

Frequently Asked Questions

What sizes does this generate?
13 platform sizes: Instagram (Post 1080×1080, Story 1080×1920, Portrait 1080×1350), Facebook (Post 1200×630, Cover 820×312), Twitter/X (Post 1600×900, Header 1500×500), LinkedIn (Post 1200×627, Banner 1584×396), YouTube Thumbnail (1280×720), TikTok (1080×1920), Pinterest Pin (1000×1500), and WhatsApp Status (1080×1920).
How does the smart crop work?
Smart crop center-crops your image to match each platform’s aspect ratio, keeping the focal center of your image. Fit mode keeps the entire image visible and fills empty space with a blurred version of your image as a background.
Can I download all sizes at once?
Yes. Click “Download All (ZIP)” to get a single ZIP file containing every generated size with clear file names like instagram-post-1080x1080.jpg. You can also download individual sizes one at a time.
Is my image uploaded to a server?
No. All processing happens entirely in your browser using the HTML5 Canvas API. Your image never leaves your device, is never stored on any server, and is never seen by anyone else. You can even use this tool offline once the page has loaded.
What is the best image to start with?
Use the highest resolution image available, ideally at least 2000×2000 pixels. Starting with a high-resolution source ensures every platform size looks sharp and professional, even for large formats like LinkedIn Banner (1584×396) or Twitter/X Post (1600×900).
