Pro Tips

Image Quality

Use high-resolution images (at least 1080px wide). Each platform will display the image differently — Instagram crops to 1:1, Twitter to 16:9.

Caption Length

Instagram allows up to 2,200 characters but truncates at ~125. Twitter limits to 280 characters. LinkedIn truncates at ~200 characters with a “see more” link.

Screenshot Tip

Download previews as PNG images to share with clients, teammates, or for planning content before publishing.

Engagement Numbers

Adjust likes, comments, and shares to mockup how a successful post would look. Great for client presentations and content strategy.

What Is the Social Media Post Preview Tool?

The Social Media Post Preview tool lets you see exactly how your content will appear on Instagram, Twitter/X, Facebook, and LinkedIn before you publish it. Enter your post text, upload an image, set your display name and handle, and watch the preview update in real-time across all four platforms.

Each preview replicates the platform's actual design patterns: Instagram's square image crop with engagement icons, Twitter's threaded layout with colored mentions and hashtags, Facebook's reaction bar with like/comment/share buttons, and LinkedIn's professional feed format with “see more” truncation. You can toggle a verified badge, set custom engagement numbers, and even switch Twitter between dark and light mode.

Why Preview Posts Before Publishing?

Social media managers and content creators know that context changes everything. The same text and image can look completely different on Instagram versus LinkedIn. A caption that fits perfectly on Twitter might get truncated on LinkedIn. An image that looks great in a square crop might lose important details when displayed at 16:9 on Twitter.

Previewing your posts before publishing catches these issues early. It's also invaluable for client approvals and content planning. Instead of describing how a post will look, you can show clients exactly what they'll see in their feed. Download the previews as PNG images and include them in pitch decks, content calendars, or Slack messages.

How Each Platform Displays Posts

Instagram crops images to a 1:1 square in the feed. Captions truncate after about 125 characters with a “...more” link. Engagement shows as like count, comment count, and a small timestamp.

Twitter/X displays images at 16:9 with rounded corners. Mentions and hashtags appear in blue. The engagement bar shows reply, retweet, and like counts. Posts are limited to 280 characters (25,000 for Premium).

Facebook shows images full-width below the text. Reactions (like, love, etc.) appear as small emoji badges with a count. Comments and shares are shown separately.

LinkedIn truncates post text after about 200 characters with a “see more” link. It uses a professional layout with connection degree indicators and a globe icon for public posts.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this tool free to use?

Yes, completely free with no signup, no watermarks, and no limits. All processing happens in your browser — your images and text are never uploaded to any server.

Can I download the preview as an image?

Yes. Click “Download Preview” to save the currently selected platform as a high-resolution PNG. You can also click “Download All 4 Previews” to get separate PNG files for Instagram, Twitter/X, Facebook, and LinkedIn at once.

How accurate are the previews?

The previews replicate each platform’s current design as closely as possible, including profile layout, text truncation, engagement counters, and image cropping. They are designed for presentations and content planning, not for pixel-exact screenshots.

Can I use this for client presentations?

Absolutely. Download the PNG previews and include them in pitch decks, content calendars, or approval workflows. Adjust the engagement numbers to show projected performance.

Does the tool support video posts?

Currently the tool supports image posts only. Video previews require different layouts and player controls for each platform. For now, use a representative thumbnail image for video content.
