What Is the Daily Journal?

The Daily Journal is a free online mood tracker and journaling tool designed to help you build a daily reflection habit. Each entry captures your mood on a 1-10 scale using intuitive emoji selectors, lets you tag your emotions from 14 common feelings, write freely in a full journal textarea, and record three things you are grateful for. Over time, the tool visualizes your emotional patterns through a GitHub-style mood heatmap, streak tracking, and trend analytics so you can identify what helps you feel your best.

How to Use the Journal

Start by selecting a mood emoji that best matches how you feel right now. The emoji sets an initial mood score, which you can fine-tune with the 1-10 slider. Next, choose up to five emotion tags that describe your current state of mind. Write in the journal section about your day, thoughts, or anything on your mind. Fill in the three gratitude fields with things you appreciate today. Hit Save to record your entry. Switch to the History tab to review past entries on the heatmap or browse them as expandable cards. The Stats tab reveals your mood trends, streaks, and most common emotions.
