How to Convert Images to PDF

Converting images to PDF is a two-step process with our tool. First, drop your JPG, PNG, GIF, WebP, or BMP files onto the upload area — or click to browse your device. You can upload as many images as you need in one go, and they all appear as numbered thumbnails in a drag-and-drop grid.

Converting images to PDF is one of the most common document tasks, used for digitizing receipts, creating photo portfolios, and compiling scanned documents into single files.

From there, arrange the images in the order you want them to appear in the PDF by dragging thumbnails or using the up/down arrow buttons. Then choose your settings: pick a page size (Letter, A4, Legal, or Fit to Image), set the orientation (portrait, landscape, or auto per image), choose your margin size, and adjust the JPEG quality slider to balance file size and image clarity. When you are happy, click the Convert button. The PDF downloads immediately.

Every image becomes exactly one page in the final PDF, in the order you arranged them. The quality slider lets you control the tradeoff between file size and visual fidelity for JPEG images — useful when you need to email a PDF under a certain size limit.

Why Convert Images to PDF?

PDF is the universal document format. While images work fine for sharing individual photos, PDF is required in many professional and institutional contexts: job applications, legal submissions, medical forms, government documents, and academic submissions all typically specify PDF format. Converting your images to PDF means you can submit a single, well-formatted file rather than a collection of loose image files.

Students scan handwritten notes or assignments and convert them to PDF for submission. Freelancers photograph physical receipts and compile them into a single expense report PDF. Small business owners photograph invoices, contracts, and documents to keep organized digital records. Real estate agents combine property photos and documents into a single PDF for clients.

Our tool gives you precise control over how those images appear in the final PDF. The Fit to Image page size option is especially useful when you want the PDF page to match the image exactly, with no white space. The margin controls let you add breathing room for documents that will be printed and hole-punched. The quality slider helps you find the right balance between file size and image clarity.

Your Privacy Is Protected

Most online image-to-PDF tools upload your files to a remote server, convert them server-side, then send the result back. This means your images — which may include personal documents, ID photos, financial statements, or medical records — leave your device and pass through a third-party server.

Our converter is different. Everything runs in your browser. When you drop an image onto the page, it is read into your browser's memory. The PDF is assembled using jsPDF, a JavaScript library that runs entirely client-side. The download is generated in your browser. At no point does any data leave your device. There are no servers involved in the conversion process.

Understanding the Settings

Page Size: Letter (8.5x11 inches) is the US standard and the right choice for most American users. A4 (210x297 mm) is the international standard used in Europe, Asia, and most of the world. Legal (8.5x14 inches) is used for legal documents in the US. Fit to Image sizes each page to match the aspect ratio of the image, so there is no white space around the image.

Orientation: Portrait (taller than wide) is the default and works best for document scans, receipts, and portrait photos. Landscape (wider than tall) is better for wide photos and panoramas. Auto mode detects each image's orientation individually — portrait images get portrait pages and landscape images get landscape pages.

JPEG Quality: The quality slider (10-100%) controls how much compression is applied to JPEG images. At 100%, images are preserved at full quality but the PDF will be large. At 85% (the default), there is minimal visible quality loss but noticeably smaller files. Below 50%, compression artifacts become visible. PNG images are always embedded at full quality regardless of this setting.

Image Fit: Fit within page (default) scales the image to fill as much of the printable area as possible while maintaining its aspect ratio and keeping the entire image visible. Fill page scales and crops the image to completely fill the page, which may cut off edges. Stretch forces the image to exactly fill the available space, which may distort it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this image to PDF converter really free?

Yes, completely free. No account, no payment, no watermarks, and no limits on the number of images or total file size. The tool runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. Everything happens in your browser. Your images are never transmitted over the internet, never stored on any server, and never seen by anyone. When you close the tab, the data is gone from memory.

Which image formats are supported?

The tool supports JPG (JPEG), PNG, WebP, GIF, and BMP — the five most common image formats. GIF and BMP images are automatically converted to JPEG during the PDF creation process for compatibility.

Can I control the order of images in the PDF?

Yes. After uploading your images, drag any thumbnail to a new position or use the up/down arrow buttons on each thumbnail. Each image becomes one page in the PDF in the exact order you arrange them.

What does the quality slider do?

The JPEG quality slider controls the compression level for JPEG images in the PDF. Lower quality means smaller file size but more compression artifacts. Higher quality preserves detail but produces a larger PDF. PNG images are not affected by this setting. The default is 85%, which is a good balance.

Does this work on iPhone and Android?

Yes. The tool is fully responsive and tested on iPhone Safari, Chrome for Android, and all major mobile browsers. You can upload images from your camera roll, choose settings, and download the resulting PDF directly on your device.
